Abstract: In the summer of 1883, Sen. Buck, a prosperous fruit rancher and state politician, was having a large fruit wagon built by blacksmith and wagonmaker Hugh Cernon. Buck had just been elected to be one of the vice presidents of the State Horticultural Society.
